Healthcare is Human

Healthcare is Human is a health humanities project originally created by Ryan McCarthy, MD in partnership with portrait photographer Molly Humphreys to document the COVID-19 pandemic. This project has since expanded to an interdisciplinary documentation of the ongoing struggles of hospital workers.

Healthcare is Human Exhibit

The WVU Humanities Center and its partners, including Art in the Libraries and the William A. Neal Museum of the Health Sciences, are hosting a yearlong exhibit for this ongoing project. The exhibit is currently on display at the Pylons Commons.

The exhibit features photography by Molly Humphreys, a portrait photographer from Shepherdstown, WV. Her photography is mostly black and white with stunning contrast illustrating the juxtaposition of the sterile, removed hospital environment and the worn, burnt-out workers.
